GIMP help

Okay, okay. I've been writing a bunch of journals lately. I've been trying to download GIMP for free, but whenever it's finished downloading it just won't respond, so I kinda need a wiz of computer stuff If anyone knows why or can find something that maybe can fix my problem would you be able to tell me or link it in a note or comment.(www.gimp.org is the website.) I think I have Windows XP on my laptop. If you can find anything, I give you thanks.
